On March 13 BISNOW hosted an event at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland on the Evolution of Downtown Oakland.

The event attracted over 250 attendees, most of which were developers and real estate professionals. RadiantBrands, Steven Donaldson, had the opportunity to moderate a panel on Transit Oriented Development with five panelists heavily involved in Downtown Oakland’s evolution. They included: Justin Bettner, Associate, DCI Engineers; Alan Dones, CEO, Suda; Sean Brooks, Department Manager of Real Estate and Property Development, BART; Thomas Cox, CEO & Managing Partner, TCA Architects; and Edward McFarlan, Principal, JRDV Urban International.

Steven led the panel in conversations both on the growth, but also the challenges of Oakland’s future balance between new residents and workers, keeping affordability in the mix, and attracting and retaining the creative and arts community – which in many ways are what many of the new developments count on in their marketing and attraction strategies.
